A day of celebration honoring the 75th anniversary of a woman’s right to vote is set for Aug. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Civic Arts Plaza Park.
Many of those attending will wear turn-of-the-century clothing, including white dress symbolic of the suffrage movement.
Marilyn Woods of KBBY Radio will act as master of ceremonies and scheduled speakers include Ventura County Supervisor Maggie Kildee, Thousand Oaks Mayor Jaime Zukowski and several other woman politicians and public figures.
The Thousand Oaks event is being held in conjunction with celebrations scheduled across the United States. On Aug. 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified giving women the right to vote.
