Bones in Forest Are Dog Remains

A coroner’s office report issued Saturday about human bones found in the Angeles National Forest was not quite right.

They were bones all right, but coroner’s officials now say they were the remains of a dog. A big dog.

Officials did not explain Sunday how the mistake was made.

The bones were found near a rugged area on Saturday afternoon by a hiker near Mile Marker 14 on Little Tujunga Canyon Road north of Sunland, said Deputy Matthew Rodrigues of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
