Garden Grove
City Council meeting
When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.
What: The council will consider protests against charges for weed abatement. The city routinely surveys vacant lots to determine if overgrown weeds pose a fire hazard. If so, owners are notified and asked to clear the lots. If an owner fails to do so, the city clears the site and bills the owner, who has the right to protest the charge if he or she thinks it is too high.

When: Today, 6:30 p.m.
What: Officials will hear public comment on a proposal to raise the rent for new tenants at Emerald Cove, a city-owned senior housing project. Rents would not be increased for current tenants.

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.
What: Officials will consider amending its policy for granting permits to specialty food shops and for car dealerships that want to add auto repair facilities. The commission will also hear a proposal to convert the Corona del Mar Cafe to a unit of the Bandera restaurant chain.
