Mission Viejo Co. Gets New Senior VP
* Walter Webster has been appointed senior vice president of California municipal legal affairs and governmental relations for the Mission Viejo Co., a land development company. He will supervise legal matters with public and private agencies, including litigation and coordinating company relations with local governments. Webster joined the company in 1978 as associate counsel/municipal legal services, and in 1987, was named vice president, municipal legal affairs. Before that, he was deputy county counsel for Orange County.
* Russell R. Stern has been named vice president, Asian operations, for Western Digital Corp., an Irvine computer products manufacturer. He will be responsible for the company’s personal storage manufacturing operations in Singapore and Malaysia. He succeeds James Steger, who recently resigned from Western Digital. Stern joined the company in 1994 as vice president, new product introductions, personal storage. He formerly held general management, marketing and manufacturing positions at Seagate Technology, Ministor Peripherals, Adaptec, Tandon and IBM.
* Al Konopka has joined NetSoft, an Irvine software company, as director of marketing. He was previously marketing programs manager at IBM in Boca Raton, Fla., and prior to that, was data communications strategy adviser at IBM headquarters.
* Welton Mansfield has been named executive vice president and managing director of Foote, Cone & Belding’s Orange County office in Santa Ana. He previously held that position from 1978-88 before leaving the company. Mansfield succeeds William Hagelstein, who moves to a new role involving long-range corporate projects and plans the company has in development. Mansfield has served as head of sales and marketing for Volkswagen in the United States and worked as a marketing consultant to several other automotive companies.
* Diane Heyden has joined Union Bank as a vice president and branch manager at the Huntington Beach office. She was formerly a vice president and branch manager at Huntington National Bank in Huntington for nine years. In addition, Gary Fowler has been named a vice president in the commercial finance division and will oversee markets in Orange and San Diego counties. Before joining the bank, he was a business development officer at Heller Financial in Costa Mesa.
