HEAD EL SERENO : Group Seeks Food for Slide Victims
Donations of canned food are being sought to help more than 75 residents displaced from their homes after a landslide July 22.
Fifteen families who lived in the four-building Highlands apartment complex were evacuated by Los Angeles city firefighters after one parking lot sank 10 feet. They are living temporarily in nearby apartments.
Since the evacuation, the families have received 45 grocery bags of canned food from the El Sereno Coordinating Council, a volunteer citizens agency that is one of several groups offering assistance.
Duran said cans may be deposited at 4237 N. Guardia Ave.
