FULLERTON : Suspect in Slaying Arrested in Phoenix
A man suspected of killing his stepfather in a Fullerton mobile home was in custody Tuesday in Phoenix on suspicion of murder.
Frank Pina, 37, was arrested in Phoenix, his hometown, after investigators spotted the stepfather’s missing car, said Fullerton police Lt. Dan Becerra.
The victim, Edward Thomas Tobin, 66, was shot in the head at his home last Thursday, police said. Tobin’s blue 1988 Toyota Camry and wallet were stolen from the crime scene, police said.
Neighbors told police they had seen Pina at the mobile home before the shooting.
A search by the FBI and Fullerton and Phoenix police ended when Tobin’s car was found near an apartment complex in Phoenix where Pina was living.
Police found a .22-caliber rifle, the weapon that police believe was used to kill Tobin, in the car. Pages of Tobin’s will also were discovered in the victim’s car.
