Marrow Testing and Blood Drive Planned

KLOS-FM, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will conduct a major blood drive and two days of bone-marrow testing next week.

The blood drive will begin Monday and continue through Aug. 12 at Red Cross offices at 14717 Sherman Way, Van Nuys.

Appointments are available from 2:45 to 8 p.m. Monday through Aug. 11 and from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Aug. 12.

In Westlake Village, donors may give blood between 2:45 and 8 p.m. Aug. 11 and between 11 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Aug. 12 at White Oak Elementary School, 31761 Village School Road.

Appointments to donate blood at either location may be made by calling (800) 955-5567. Walk-ins will also be accepted.

Testing for potential bone-marrow donors will be done from 2:45 to 8 p.m. Monday and next Tuesday at the Van Nuys location.

Those tested will be included in the local Red Cross marrow-donor database, with information forwarded to the National Marrow Donor Program for their registry of potential donors.
