ROLLER HOCKEY : Brawl Mars Bullfrogs’ Victory Over River Rats

The Bullfrogs kept their unbeaten streak alive, defeating the Sacramento River Rats, 10-6, in a Pacific Division Roller Hockey International game Thursday at Arco Arena in Sacramento.

However, the Bullfrogs’ were involved in a brawl late in the game, and four of their top players could be suspended for tonight’s game, said Steve Pona, Bullfrog spokesman.

The fight broke out as Daniel Shank, who had four goals and four assists, attempted to score his fifth goal. When Shank skated behind the net, a shoving match broke out between Shank and Sacramento goalie Sergei Maumov. Then Bullfrogs’ Joe Cook, Todd Wetzel and Brad McCaughey joined the fight with five other Sacramento players. Pona said game officials would not comment on which players might be suspended.

Mark Ouimet had two goals and two assists for the Bullfrogs (12-0-1). Sergei Berdnikov scored two goals for Sacramento (6-6-3).

Rob Laurie had 30 saves for the Bullfrogs, who play the Phoenix Cobras at 7:30 tonight at The Pond.

San Jose 8, Blades 5: San Jose Rhino forwards Mark Woolf and Darren Colbourne each scored three goals as the Rhinos defeated the Blades in front of an announced crowd of 3,521 at the Forum.
