U.S., Japanese Breweries Announce Joint Venture: Miller Brewing Co. and Japan’s second-largest brewer, Asahi Breweries Co., said they have reached an agreement to promote each other’s products. Tokyo-based Asahi will exclusively brew and distribute Miller beer in Japan. Miller will market Asahi brands in the United States through its Century Importers Inc. subsidiary. The companies will also cooperate on marketing efforts in countries other than the United States and Japan. Miller, a subsidiary of Philip Morris Cos., has been sold in Japan for the past decade.
