MOTOR RACING : Drummen Finally Wins First Street Stock Main
- Share via
SAUGUS — Jeff Drummen has quietly established a solid reputation in the Street Stock division at Saugus Speedway.
The Northridge driver, who is fourth in the points standings, has been a top-five finisher six times, but he had failed to win a race this season.
That is, until Saturday night.
Drummen took advantage of Andy Phipps spinning out on lap 12 to win the 25-lap main event in front of 3,712.
Drummen ended T.K. Karvasek’s streak of four consecutive Street Stock victories. Karvasek finished second.
In the Grand American Modified feature, Dave Blankenship of Reseda went wire to wire for his second feature victory of the season.
Rich Ocheltree won the Late Model 40-lap feature when he survived a fierce battle with Brian Kelly.
Kelly overtook Ocheltree on lap 32 and held the position for six laps.
The two raced side by side until Ocheltree nudged Kelly, forcing him to spin out in turn four.
