Chief Executive at FHP Responds

An article on FHP International Corp. (“Outside Director Named Chairman at Troubled FHP,” June 16) was misleading and contained a number of inaccurate statements and false assumptions.
FHP is one of the largest, strongest and most secure health maintenance organizations in the nation. We have one of the highest revenues of any publicly traded HMO. In our March 31, 1995, financial results, we reported that quarterly net income increased 69% over the same period last year. Far from being a “troubled” company, we are a profitable and expanding one.
FHP is not for sale, as The Times erroneously indicated. Your sources were incorrect. FHP is here for the long run.
