Southeast : 3 Dogs That Killed Boy, 5, Are Put to Sleep
- Share via
Three dogs that mauled a 5-year-old Compton boy to death last week were put to sleep Friday, despite an outcry from animal rights activists.
Police said no criminal charges will be filed against the dogs’ owner, who agreed to have the dogs euthanized.
The animals attacked Gilberto Martinez after he went into their fenced yard to retrieve his soccer ball June 13. The boy died a few hours later.
Animal rights activists said the three German shepherds were guarding their territory as they were trained to do and did not deserve to die.
