COO Named at MGM Grand Inc.: Alex Yemenidjian, a confidant of billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, has been named chief operating officer of MGM Grand. Yemenidjian will continue in his current position as chief financial officer of the company until a successor is named. Yemenidjian will report to J. Terrence Lanni, president and chief executive of MGM Grand. Yemenidjian, 39, played a major role in Kerkorian’s recent efforts to buy Chrysler Corp. through the billionaire’s Tracinda Corp., which is the majority stockholder in MGM Grand. Las Vegas-based MGM Grand owns the MGM Grand Hotel, Casino and Theme Park.
