Boeing Lands Major 777 Orders: The Seattle-based aircraft manufacturer will announce that four Asian airlines have ordered about 30 of its new “stretch” 777 twin-engine jetliners in contracts valued at more than $4 billion, a company executive said. About a third of the orders will supplant existing orders for the regular 777. The orders, placed by All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airlines, Korean Airlines and Thai International Airways, will officially launch production of the stretch 777, a larger version of Boeing Co.’s newest line of passenger jets. The stretch version, to be called the 777-300X, will carry about 368 passengers in three seating classes, compared to about 305 in the regular 777.
