Edith L. McPherson; Homemaker, Volunteer
Edith Lorraine McPherson, a lifelong resident of Ventura County, died Friday at a Ventura hospital. She was 76.
Born in Santa Paula in 1918, McPherson attended Briggs School and Santa Paula High School, where she met her husband, Roy McPherson. The couple were married for 57 years. Roy McPherson, a salesman and apartment manager, died four years ago.
A homemaker, McPherson was active in the Pythian Sisters, serving as past chief of Buena Temple No. 57. She joined the service organization in 1942.
“She was a joker, she was a people person, she was an animal lover--she always had pets,†said Ruby Stephano, McPherson’s niece.
“She was just a wonderful person and a wonderful mother,†said her son, Robert McPherson, of Ventura.
She is also survived by son Gary McPherson, of Ventura; sisters Helen Kinney, of Ventura, and Mary Elizabeth Bullington, of Yerington, Nev.; and two grandsons.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
