ORLANDO, Fla. — Police evacuated nine youths and 11 adults and closed streets around the Orange County Juvenile Courthouse after finding a hand grenade wedged into a door Sunday. The grenade was blown up safely, and no one was injured.
Bomb squad technicians removed the grenade attached to the handle outside the courthouse’s front door after a security guard noticed it at 8:45 a.m., sheriff’s spokesman Carlos Espinosa said.
The grenade, with its pin still inserted, was blown up with other explosives. Authorities didn’t determine if the grenade was live.
No suspects were identified.
