Vietnamese Refugees Riot

HONG KONG — Thousands of Vietnamese asylum-seekers threw spears and rocks as they battled police at a detention center Saturday. Nearly 200 people were injured, mainly riot officers who used tear gas to quell the violence.
The Vietnamese were protesting plans to transfer 1,500 of them to a smaller camp that is often a last stop for asylum-seekers before they are deported back to Vietnam.
