LAGUNA NIGUEL : City to Consider Stance Against Measure R
- Share via
The City Council tonight will consider a proposal to go on record opposing Measure R, the half-cent sales tax initiative that will go before voters June 27.
Yorba Linda, Cypress, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo already have taken positions against the tax, which Orange County is counting on to help bail itself out of bankruptcy.
Two weeks ago, Laguna Niguel Mayor Mark Goodman and Councilman Eddie Rose asked City Clerk Juanita Zarilla to prepare a resolution for today’s 7 p.m. meeting, which will be in council chambers at 27781 La Paz Road.
In other matters, the City Council will review a Parks and Recreation Commission proposal prohibiting basketball games from starting before 8 a.m. in public parks. Some games are being played as early as 5:30 a.m., said Kerry Bartlet, manager of the parks commission.
