TUSTIN — A man who allegedly stabbed a Los Angeles woman to death near Harbor City last month was arrested Sunday night after attempting to elude police by staying at a motel here, police said.
DeWayne Carey, 34, of Harbor City, was arrested at the Tustin Motor Lodge at 750 El Camino Real for alleged parole violations. A call from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department also led to his arrest on suspicion of murder, Tustin Police Sgt. Mike Pettifer said.
Carey was arrested in the death of Ernestine Campbell, 51, whose husband found her in their home near Harbor City on April 19. She died at a hospital shortly afterward.
Pettifer said Carey was taken into custody Sunday without incident.
