PACOIMA — An 18-year-old man was shot twice by Los Angeles police officers Thursday after he pointed a gun at them, authorities said.
The officers were on patrol at 6:15 p.m. when they noticed the man walking east in the 13000 block of Filmore Street with a gun sticking out of his waistband, said Officer Don Cox.
As soon as the man saw the officers, he fled and climbed over a nearby wall, Cox said. The officers gave chase, but as they cornered him in a back yard, he pulled out the gun and pointed it at the two officers, Cox said.
The officers shot the man twice in the hip, and he was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, Cox said.
The identities of the injured man and the two officers were not immediately available, Cox said. Neither officer was injured, he said.
