Earle M. Jorgensen Co.: The privately held Brea metal distributor reported a $19.7-million profit for its recently completed fiscal year, compared to a loss of $4.3 million the previous year. Annual revenue was $1.02 billion, up 21% from the $843.4 million recorded a year earlier. Jorgensen, the largest independently owned metal distributor in the nation, also announced fourth quarter profits of $6.4 million, up threefold from the $2 million mark posted a year earlier. Fourth quarter revenue of $278.6 million was up 18% from $263.3 million.
