Freeway Crash Victim Identified
LAKE FOREST — A man killed in an accident on the northbound San Diego Freeway was identified as James Chavez, 27, of Cerritos, authorities said Saturday.
Chavez was in a Jeep Wrangler that veered out of control at 9:25 p.m. Friday at high speed near the Lake Forest Boulevard exit. His vehicle hit a construction barrier, sideswiped a van into the center divider and then overturned, said a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol.
The other occupant of the Jeep, David Salazar, 27, of Grand Terrace in Riverside County, suffered moderate injuries, the spokeswoman said. It was unclear which man was driving, she said.
Two people in the van suffered moderate injuries, but neither was identified.
