GLENDALE : Nestle Will Stay If Building Is Sold

The headquarters of Nestle USA, one of the largest buildings constructed during Glendale’s office boom of the late 1980s, is reportedly being sold, although the food conglomerate’s 1,500 employees are expected to stay.
The 22-story, 525,000-square-foot building at 800 N. Brand Blvd. is co-owned by Nestle USA and Dallas-based Lincoln Property Co. Officials with the two companies would neither confirm nor deny its pending sale to a group of investors for $115 million, as reported by the Los Angeles Business Journal this week.
But Nestle officials said the company, which is among the 10 largest employers in Glendale, will remain even if the building changes hands.
“We have a long-term lease here and have absolutely no plans to leave,” said Nestle spokeswoman Laurie MacDonald.
“Whether or not there is a sale, it will have no impact on us.”
The structure was originally known as the Carnation Building when it opened in 1990.
But after a corporate restructuring within Nestle USA--the American arm of Nestle S.A. of Switzerland--the building now is home to the Nestle corporate headquarters and two of its business subsidiaries.
The building was custom-built for Carnation, which moved to Glendale after being headquartered at a Wilshire Boulevard office building for 39 years.
