Calabasas and Ventura will play May 6 for the championship of the rain-delayed Westside tournament at a neutral site, probably Pepperdine, according to Ventura Coach Dan Smith.
Ventura (9-8, 6-2), tied for first place in the Channel League, has won three of four games in the 16-team tournament that began in March.
Calabasas (17-0, 9-0), the Frontier League leader, is 3-0 in the tournament.
Softball
Calabasas pitcher Melissa Krolik has signed a letter of intent with New Mexico.
Krolik (8-3), who also considered Arizona State, will receive a full scholarship from the Lobos.
Krolik has been All-Frontier League three times in softball, twice each in volleyball and twice in basketball.
She was the league’s most valuable player in basketball last season.
Moorpark pitcher Mindy Penrod has signed a letter of intent with Iowa State.
Penrod (8-2) chose the Cyclones over Oklahoma and Southwest Texas.
