CRENSHAW : Summer Jobs for Youths Available

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter has announced the availability of summer jobs for youths ages 14 to 21.
Qualified applicants must be willing to work 25 hours a week. Jobs are in nonprofit workplaces that include child care centers, senior citizen centers, hospitals and recreation facilities.
Applicants must be Los Angeles residents, come from a low-income family or qualify for the school lunch program, have a Social Security card and proof of legal residency. Those under 17 must have a school permit. Men 18 and older must be registered with the Selective Service.
The program, provided by the city’s Community Development Department and the state Employment Development Department, will run from July 10 through Aug. 18. Pay is $5 per hour.
