Countywide : Services Set for Two Doctors Killed in Crash
A public memorial service will be held at the Crystal Cathedral today for two UCI Medical Center physicians who died in a plane crash while on a humanitarian mission to Mexico.
The doctors, George G. Brauel of Fountain Valley and Francis Markoe Dugan Jr. of Santa Ana, were passengers aboard a private plane that crashed in a remote area of the Camp Pendleton Marine base shortly after taking off from John Wayne Airport.
The service will begin at 3 p.m. at the Crystal Cathedral Arboretum, 12141 Lewis St., Garden Grove. Officiating will be Dr. Robert H. Schuller.
Also killed in the crash were pilot Anthony W. Shanks and co-pilot Randy V. Breding, both of Sacramento.
Brauel and Dugan were en route to the Mexican state of Sinaloa on a medical mission sponsored by Orange County-based LIGA International.
