OXNARD : Chavez Library Seeks Aid, Participation
Proponents of a project to build a learning center in Oxnard in memory of labor leader Cesar Chavez are seeking the help and participation of the community.
Members of the Cesar A. Chavez Library/Learning Center of Ventura County plan to build a $2.1-million facility at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in La Colonia.
The facility would function as a public library but would concentrate on providing information relating to civil-rights leaders such as Chavez and the Rev. Martin Luther King, said Nina Duarte, an Oxnard businesswoman and a member of the committee.
Within the next month, the committee should obtain nonprofit status, Duarte said, and then the organization will elect a board of directors.
To participate in the project, contact Anthony Zubia at 483-2389.
