CASITAS : State, Federal Funds Sought for Repairs
Faced with the heaviest storm damage in more than a decade, the Casitas Municipal Water District is seeking $600,000 in state and federal aid to pay for pipeline repairs, debris removal and replacement of a damaged bridge.
The district’s board voted this week to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Office of Emergency Services.
General Manager John J. Johnson said the money, if approved, will repay the district for repairs to the main water line serving La Conchita and communities along the Rincon Parkway. The money will also pay for replacement of a small bridge in the Lake Casitas Recreation Area.
Johnson said the district will also file claims to be reimbursed for about $18,000 spent supplying drinking water to La Conchita residents after the line to their community was severed.
