BRIEFLY : Art: Murals Brighten Community Offices
Members of an artists association are donating their time to paint murals for a local foster children’s center.
Members of the Visual Artists Assn., a group of professional artists who undertake community projects, are painting murals at the West Los Angeles Department of Children’s Services offices.
The murals, in the lobby, child-care area and interview rooms, are the work of more than a dozen artists and are among 57 murals painted for Children’s Services offices around the county.
“We have found over the years that our murals seem to reassure and uplift the children,” said Pomm Olsen, member of the Visual Artists Assn. “If we accomplish that, then we feel that our work is worthwhile.”
