Vidales Leads Huntington Beach to Baseball Upset
Jeremy Vidales drove in four runs, including three on a home run in the third inning, as Huntington Beach upset top-ranked Fountain Valley, 8-6, in the Sunset League baseball opener Friday at Huntington Beach High.
Vidales, who also tripled in the first and hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth, tied the score, 3-3, with his first home run of the season. After the Barons (4-1-1, 0-1) scored a run in the top of the fourth, Huntington Beach (4-2, 1-0) scored three in the bottom half of the inning for a 6-4 lead.
Ryan Evans (2-1) pitched 6 2/3 innings before being relieved by Brandon Steele, who got Chris Ponchak to pop to third to end the game.
