SANTA ROSA VALLEY : Owner of Nursery Dies in Car Crash
The owner of a commercial nursery in the Santa Rosa Valley was killed early Thursday after his car was rammed by another vehicle and slammed into a power pole.
Tadashi Fujii, 60, of Thousand Oaks, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:20 a.m. accident on Santa Rosa Road near Rose Lane.
Highway Patrol officials said Fujii had just left his business, Fujii Growers Inc., and was heading home when a truck driven by Branco Osvaldo, 47, of Camarillo, struck Fujii from behind.
Fujii’s car then skidded across the road and hit a utility pole on the driver’s side.
A third driver, George Dever, 56, of Camarillo, swerved in an effort to avoid the wreck, but ended up side-swiping Fujii’s car.
Neither Dever nor Osvaldo were injured.
No one has been cited, but CHP officials said the accident remains under investigation.
