DIVISION III
Newbury Park 67, Santee Santana 57--Kara McKeown scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Julie Wastell added 11 points and six assists to lead Newbury Park (31-1) to the Southern California Regional Division III championship.
The Panthers extended their winning streak to 26 in a row and controlled the offensive rebounding. Newbury Park outrebounded Santana, 53-30.
Kelly Simers, a sophomore, scored 12 points in the first half on three-for-seven shooting from beyond the three-point line.
Newbury Park had led most of the first half by as many as 12 points, but Simers’ shooting propelled the Sultans to a 27-26 halftime lead.
DIVISION IV
Cerritos Valley Christian (22-3) vs. Santa Ynez (30-1)--The game was postponed because of transportation problems with Santa Ynez and is scheduled to be played Tuesday at a site to be announced.
DIVISION V
El Cajon Christian 52, Julian 46--Stephanie Shadwell had 16 points and nine rebounds and Jenny Wenning had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots (32-3) over the Eagles (31-4) to the title at Cal State Fullerton.
This will be El Cajon Christian’s fifth trip in a row to the state finals.
