GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
On Tuesday night, the Cougars coasted to a 52-35 victory over Long Beach Poly in a Southern California Regional Division I first-round game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Kristi Lattin had 20 points, connecting on five three-point baskets, and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Naila Moseley contributed 16 points for Crenshaw against the Southern Section Division I-AA champion.
Crenshaw held Poly without a field goal for nearly eight minutes in the second half, embarking on a 22-3 run to expand a 21-19 lead to 43-22. Lattin had 11 points during the spurt, including three three-point baskets.
Records: Long Beach Poly 25-5; Crenshaw 29-0.

Mater Dei 58, Washington 54--Melody Peterson scored all eight of Mater Dei’s fourth-quarter points as the Monarchs ended Washington’s season with a Southern California Regional semifinal victory Tuesday at the Bren Events Center in Irvine.
With Washington trailing, 50-46, Jackie Lauderdale scored four consecutive points to tie the score at 50 with 5:45 left in the fourth quarter.
Peterson sank two free throws with 1:55 remaining to give Mater Dei a 54-52 lead.
Sophomore Shay Williams scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Generals.
Records: Mater Dei 26-1; Washington 18-7.
