The Katella senior was selected player of the year by The Times Orange County after posting a 7-2 record with a 2.99 earned-run average and 100 strikeouts in 75 innings. Chosen by the Indians with the 10th pick in the first round of the amateur draft, Wright had an 0-1 record in four starts for Burlington of the Appalachian League.
