Autopsy Awaited in Death of Man Following Fight
FULLERTON — Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy scheduled for today to determine the cause of death of a 20-year-old man who died Sunday, two days after being struck in the face during a fight at a party.
Fullerton police were notified Sunday that Frank C. Giuffrida, whose residence was not immediately known, had died at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Lt. Mike Stedman said.
Investigators determined that Giuffrida had been at a party Friday night in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, where he was involved in a fight, Stedman said.
A witness told police that Giuffrida was punched in the face, but seemed to be all right, Stedman said. Friends placed Giuffrida, who had been drinking, inside a van “to sleep it off,” he said.
“The victim seemed OK and went to sleep” in the van, Stedman said.
However, Giuffrida could not be awakened Sunday morning, and his friends transported him to the hospital.
