The city is seeking contractor bids for a $1.2-million capital improvement project in the 50-acre downtown redevelopment area.
The work will be done west of Brea Boulevard on Birch and Ash streets and on Madrona and Walnut avenues. Improvements will include curbs, sidewalks, sidewalk planters, paving, ornamental street lights, landscaping and irrigation.
Sewer, water and storm drain facilities will also be included in the project, along with facilities for electrical, telephone and cable-TV services.
Nearly all of the funding will be provided by the Brea Redevelopment Agency.
The City Council is expected to award the construction contract April 4. It will take an estimated three months to complete the project.
