AND ONE MORE THING: How much have things changed in Seattle rock in the last five years? Well, when the city’s weekly paper the Rocket polled its critics five years ago on the most important records to come from the Northwest, the winner was the Kingsmen’s garage-rock masterpiece, “Louie Louie.” Now, celebrating its 200th issue, the Rocket repeated the exercise, with drastically different results. The winner: Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” the fuse for the Seattle grunge explosion.

No. 2 is an old Seattle garage-band classic, “Here Are the Sonics,” but four of the Top 10 were released since the last poll, with Nirvana’s 1989 debut, “Bleach,” at No. 3, Pearl Jam’s “Ten” at No. 9 and Soundgarden’s “Superunknown” at No. 10. Surprisingly, Hole’s “Live Through This,” which Rocket critics called the best album of 1994, came in at only No. 50 in this poll.

And “Louie Louie”? A still-respectable No. 15.
