OXNARD : Volunteers Sought as Tutors in Reading
Ventura County residents interested in tutoring adults in reading should contact the county library.
Pat Flanigan, the manager for the county’s library Reading Program for Adults, said they are in desperate need of volunteers, particularly in Oxnard. The program is for English-speaking adults.
Although no teaching experience is required, volunteers are required to attend a one-day training class scheduled for March 18.
The program, which operates from 11 county facilities, serves an average 1,000 people through the area, Flanigan said.
Volunteers would be required to teach for one hour, twice a week. For more information call 652-6294.
