America Online, American Express Start Venture: American Express Corp. said it joined with America Online to offer electronic shopping, travel and financial services through home computers, another sign of the growing interest of big companies in selling on-line. ExpressNet, as the venture will be known, allows American Express cardholders who also subscribe to America Online to pay bills, get detailed financial information and make travel arrangements. Users can book hotels, rent cars or reserve airline tickets. American Express gave no additional details.
