ADOPTION CENTRAL: Jean Mejia loves a good cat show. But the show at the Orange County Fairgrounds today is special to her: Not only will the elite be judged, dozens of homeless cats will be there too. . . . “It’s a chance to bring cat-related people together at a centralized location and let them know there are cats who need adoption,†she says. There’s a nominal cost to cover shots and neutering.
TWO TETS: Two Vietnamese groups will hold Tet festivals this year. The annual Little Saigon Festival Feb. 3-5 will be at the MacGarvin Intermediate School in Westminster. Another nonprofit group will hold a separate event at Garden Grove Park the same dates. . . . Miscommunication created the snafu. The second group somehow thought the Little Saigon event had been canceled. But, says Jonathan Ton, spokesman of the Little Saigon Tet Festival, “This offers the community a choice.â€
LOOKING WEST: Dr. Barry Behrstock didn’t go to Vietnam two years ago just to take pictures. The pediatrics chairman of Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach led a team of 46 doctors to provide medical services for the Vietnamese. . . . But while he was there, he took pictures. And as a part of the upcoming Tet Festival activities, an exhibit of his photographs will be on display at the Fine Arts Galley at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. The exhibit opens Monday and runs through Feb. 3. The college’s annual Tet events are scheduled Saturday and the following day.
