SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : School District Will Refine Report Cards
The Capistrano Unified School District board has voted to continue fine-tuning changes to elementary school report cards, which when ready will give parents a better picture of how their children are performing.
The district began overhauling the report cards in 1993, and first versions of the new report cards were used in selected classrooms.
A committee of teachers, administrators and parents overseeing the report cards are working toward the final version.
A survey conducted last year found that parents and teachers felt the cards should have been more comprehensive and descriptive and not rely as much on a check-list system of reporting a student’s progress.
The report cards are expected to be ready for board approval before the end of the school year.
