SIMI VALLEY : Panel to Consider Police Station Sites
Hoping to open a new police station within three years, a committee of Simi Valley leaders will gather Wednesday to discuss possible sites for the new headquarters.
The city’s ongoing efforts to build a new station accelerated after the existing building on Cochran Street suffered damage in the earthquake a year ago today.
Possible sites for the new station include city property next to City Hall and land across Tapo Canyon Road owned by the school district.
Simi Valley has applied for up to $3.7 million in federal quake relief funds to help cover the estimated $11-million cost of the station. An additional $2.9 million could come from the city Community Development Agency, with the balance drawn from the city’s general fund and special districts.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
