WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Washington Streaks Past USC, 67-53
Shannon Kelly scored 11 of her career-high 19 points during a 20-4 Washington run early in the second half that put the 15th-ranked Huskies ahead for good in a 67-53 victory over No. 20 USC on Thursday night in Seattle.
Kelly scored 16 points and made four of five three-point baskets in the second half.
Laure Savasta scored 13 points and Rhonda Smith added 12 points and nine rebounds for Washington (12-4, 2-1 in the Pacific 10).
Tina Thompson scored 15 points for USC (8-3, 1-2).
The Trojans committed 36 turnovers and the Huskies 29, season highs for each.
Washington State 85, UCLA 80--Kelli Kronberger came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points in the victory at Pullman, Wash.
The Cougars (8-4, 1-2) snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Bruins (6-6, 1-2), who were led by Kisa Hughes’ 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Jenni Ruff and Kristin Erickson each scored 15 points for Washington State, and Kireen Ellis added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
