COMMUNITY COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL : Cypress Manages to Hold Off Golden West

Cypress, which led by as many as 12 points in the second half, hung on to beat Golden West, 64-60, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday at Cypress.

Michael Dean (23 points) made an 18-foot jumper with 19 seconds left to cut Cypress’ lead to 63-60, but David Neal made one of two free throws with nine seconds left to clinch the victory for Cypress (14-8, 1-2), which stopped a three-game losing streak.

Jeff Cummins scored 18 points and Matt Kenney had 17 for Cypress. Golden West is 6-13, 0-3.

In other conference games:

Rancho Santiago 95, Fullerton 76--Nick Holt had 23 points and Jimmy Harris added 21 for host Rancho Santiago (14-5, 2-1). Harris had five three-pointers.

Marcus Austin had 30 points, including two three-pointers, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for Fullerton (9-11, 0-3). Austin, a forward, has 66 blocked shots this season, including nine in one game.

Saddleback 91, Orange Coast 65--Frank Allen had 20 points and Eric Ambrozich added 19 as visiting Saddleback (16-3, 3-0) won its 10th consecutive game.

Micah Kroeger scored 14 for Saddleback, which is tied for first with Riverside.

Damion Morbley had 13 for Orange Coast (9-10, 1-2).

Riverside 92, Irvine Valley 76--Brook Lister and Josh Porter each had 17 points and Keon Clark had 15 for visiting Irvine Valley (14-7, 2-1). Clark, 6 feet 11, also had a game-high 15 rebounds.

Ronald Kenan scored 25 points for Riverside (19-2, 3-0).
