SIMI VALLEY : Grants Available for Community Groups
Simi Valley community organizations in need of financial assistance are encouraged to apply for a Community Development Block Grant.
The funds, about $871,000 from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are administered by the city each year.
The money is intended to help low- and moderate-income residents, prevent or eliminate blight or help with community development.
In past years, the city has awarded block grant funds to a range of groups, including the Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Samaritan Center for the homeless, and veterans aid groups.
Applications, which are due Feb. 3, are available at the Department of General Services at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
