DESERT SKIN: Photographs by Thomas Miller,...
DESERT SKIN: Photographs by Thomas Miller, essay by Edward Abbey (University of Utah Press: 102 pp.). Over the millenia, the Green, San Juan and Colorado Rivers have carved the ancient rocks of Northern Arizona and Southern Utah into bizarre and beautiful forms. In Thomas Miller’s dramatic photographs, the rock formations suggest fantastic castles, organic shapes, fractal patterns and crunchy cookies. Miller and Abbey offer a paean to the Colorado Plateau, a region both uniquely alluring and singularly foreboding.
