WATER POLO : U.S. Junior Team Defeats Youth Squad
LAKE FOREST — The U.S. junior national team defeated the U.S. youth team, 12-9, to win the title in the North American Junior Water Polo Championships Friday at El Toro High.
Ryan Bailey led the junior team with five goals and Greg Mendenhall scored three as the junior team took an early lead and kept it throughout the game.
Matt Armato led the youth team with three goals. Rick McEvoy had 14 saves for the junior team and Greg Stoll recorded seven for the youth team.
In a third-place game, Canada’s A team defeated Mexico’s A team, 19-13. Mexico’s B team took fifth place, beating Canada’s B team, 5-4.
