Arizona Coach Dick Tomey hired Utah Coach Ron McBride to coach the Wildcat offensive line from 1987-89 and they remain good friends going into tonight’s game.

“I was with him at Disneyland (Saturday),� Tomey needled. “It was like being with a damn folk hero. We couldn’t take 10 steps before somebody stopped him to shake his hand.�

Replied McBride: “Dick’s taking that (Texas Tech Coach) Spike Dykes approach, saying, ‘Y’all come down and play us. We’re scared to death of you.’ Then, they kick the hell out of you.�
