LEPANTO, Ark. — A man who said he robbed a bank to help pay for his wife’s cancer treatments was released from jail to spend Christmas with his family.
A U.S. magistrate released Larry Archer on his own recognizance Thursday and placed him in his mother’s custody, waiving a $200,000 bond.
Archer was charged with robbing the MidSouth Bank in Jonesboro, Ark., on Nov. 22 of $4,150. He was captured after he crashed his wife’s car during a chase. Trial is set for Feb. 14. Archer faces a maximum fine of $250,000 and up to 20 years if convicted.
