Jaywalker Struck, Killed by Car
RESEDA — A 67-year-old man crossing the street in the middle of the block after dark Saturday was struck by a car and killed, authorities said.
The driver, who hit the man in the 6900 block of Wilbur Avenue just before 6:30 p.m., will not be cited, said Sgt. Glenn Wiggins of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
The victim was pronounced dead at Tarzana Regional Medical Center, shortly after the accident, Wiggins said. He would not release the victim’s name pending notification of relatives.
Wiggins said the evening rain probably hampered the driver’s visibility, as well as contributing to the victim’s failure to use a crosswalk or follow traffic signals.
